The Gulf Jazz Society Concert presents Bobby Van Deusen

Three time world Champion Bobby Van Deusen, a Philadelphia native, began his musical training at age seven after his mother saw him picking out tunes on the family piano. A precocious youngster, his love for entertaining started with performances in elementary school. Classically trained, he spent his high school years playing in as many instrumental and vocal groups as possible. After college training at Central and Ohio State University, he began making a name for himself playing at piano bars in the Midwest. He traveled south in 1985 and joined the Rosie O’Grady dixieland band in Pensacola. After stints in New Orleans with Al Hirt and Pete Fountain, he was hired as riverboat piano player with the Delta Steamboat Company. Bobby won the Senior Division first prize at the World Championship Old Time Piano Contest 3 times, becoming an undefeated world champion. He tours with his “Prime Time” trio and performs with local Jazz Societies and concert associations. Bobby lives in Pensacola.

Bobby will be accompanied by three-time Grammy winner Steve Gilmore on Bass.

The concert will be at the House of Henry, 461 Harrison Avenue in Panama City, Florida, from 6:30 until 9:00 pm. Admission is still just $10. Non-members are always welcome.
