Classics From the 1st Ladies of Jazz

Kathy Lyon, this month ‘s featured artist, has put together a program titled “Classics From the 1st Ladies of Jazz,” that focuses on the timeless songs many of the great female jazz vocalists performed.  Most of the prominent jazz vocalists sang and recorded many of the same songs… the STANDARDS… and each delivered a version that showed her unique voice and vocal stylings.  They included Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Carmen McRae, Dinah Washington, and more. Long recognized for vocal virtuosity and dynamic performance, Kathy has been entertaining audiences for 40 years.  Whether small listening rooms or a big stage jazz festival, Kathy brings her breadth of experience to deliver an exciting performance that wins fans every time. Kathy will be accompanied by Dr. Jill Wofsey on Piano and Steve Gilmore (three-time Grammy winner) on Acoustic Bass
