Bobby Van Deusen plays Duke Ellington

The Gulf Jazz Society weekly concert will feature Pianist Bobby Van Deusen, playing the music of Duke Ellington.
Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington was a major figure of Jazz History Duke Ellington’s music spanned more than half a century, during which time he composed thousands of songs for stage, screen, and contemporary songbook. He emerged as creating one of the most distinctive ensemble sounds in Western music, and continued to perform until his death in 1974.
Philadelphia native and classically trained pianist Bobby van Deusen is a three-time World champion stride pianist and a great admirer of Duke Ellington. Bobby had his college training at Central and Ohio state University. He then made his way south and performed with the Rosie O’ Grady Dixieland band, plus stints with Pete Fountain and Al Hirt.
Bobby will be accompanied by three-time Grammy award winning Bassist Steve Gilmore.
It promises to be an exciting evening to hear Bob and Steve’s interpretations of Duke Ellington’s Music
