Her voice can be heard on over one-hundred recordings\, and she has her own CD entitled “Here You Are”. Sheila will be accompanied by popular local pianist Luke Pinegar\, and three-time Grammy Award bassist Steve Gilmore. There’s concert style seating with beer\, wine\, and soft drinks and snacks available. Parking is easy as construction is mainly completed.  \nThe Gulf Jazz society is a 501C3 organization.

DESCRIPTION:The Gulf Jazz Society Concert\, July 28th at the House of Henry\, features local jazz saxophonist Craig Duran. Craig graduated from the University of North Florida with a jazz studies degree and went on to play professionally on cruise ships. Disney World\, and other regional venues with jazz\, pop\, and reggae bands. While at UNF\, Craig shared the stage with many jazz greats like Branford and Wynton Marsalis\, Joe Williams\, the Count Basie Orchestra\, Dianne Reeves\, Cassandra Wilson and many more. He moved to Panama City in 1997 to play with the local show band “Clutch”. Recently\, Craig has been playing live music venues on 30A and occasionally appearing in bands like “Mofo” and JJ Grey. Popular local pianist and vocalist Luke Pinegar\, known for his soulful southern style\, will be accompanied by three-time Grammy award-winning bassist Steve Gilmore\, whose credits include performing with jazz great Phil Woods\, Tony Bennett\, Jim Hall\, and Tom Waits\, and others.

DESCRIPTION:The Gulf jazz Society Concert at the House of Henry will feature pianist\, vocalist\, and multi instrumentalist Luke Pinegar with bassist Steve Gilmore. Luke Pinegar is a gulf coast based multi-instrumentalist known for his soulful sound\, deep swing\, and genre-crossing versatility. A graduate of the University of North Texas\, Luke has performed and recorded in jazz\, gospel\, blues\, rock\, and country settings\, drawing from New Orleans street beat influences\, to Nat King Cole and Otis Redding. With decades of experience as a performer\, educator\, and former Executive Director at the Ark in Panama City Beach. Luke now teaches and performs full-time\, inspiring audiences with heart felt\, groove driven music rooted in tradition and storytelling. Bassist Steve Gilmore is a three-time Grammy award winner best known for his forty-plus year tenure with famed alto saxophonist Phil Woods. Steve studied at the Advanced School of Contemporary Music in Canada with Jazz Great Ray Brown. Besides Phil Woods\, Steve has a very detailed discography\, a few being Tony Bennett\, Jim Hall\, Tom Waits\, Mose Allison\, Al Cohn and or Zoot Sims\, Thad Jones Mel Lewis Orchestra\, and Dave Liebman to name just a few. Steve has been living in his wife’s hometown of Panama City for thirteen years\, and is a past member of the Panama City Symphony\, and gigs with the Sinfonia Gulf Coast.

DESCRIPTION:The Gulf Jazz Society concert May 5th at the House of Henry will feature the duo team of pianist Mike Levine and bassist Steve Gilmore. Mike Levine is a man of many talents whose career is a blend of different aspects of music. Mike attended the University of Miami\, where he studied with Vince Maggio and formed a group with Billy Ross. Their first album “That Summer Something” in 1981 featured guitarist Pat Metheny. Mike has performed with major artists Nat Adderly\, Mel Torme\, Ira Sullivan\, and Will Lee. His band was the opening act for such icons as Michael Franks\, Gato Barbieri\, Dionne Warwick + many others. He has toured worldwide with Raul DiBlasio\, and has released three other albums\, the latest “Just Chillin” in 2011. \nSteve Gilmore was raised in the Philadelphia area and attended the Advanced School of Contemporary Music in Toronto\, Canada\, where he studied under acclaimed bassist Ray Brown. Steve then moved to Miami\, where he worked with Flip Philips and Ira Sullivan. Upon his return to the NYC area in 1971 with a new family\, Steve became increasingly busy working for forty-plus years with famed alto saxophonist Phil Woods\, where he earned three Grammys for jazz performance. Steve also performed with Tony Bennett\, Jim Hall\, Al Cohn and Zoot Sims\, Tom Waits\, to name just a few.

They released their first album “That Summer Something” in 1981\, which featured guitarist Pat Metheny. \n\n\n\nMike’s own band has been the opening act for such well-known artists as Michael Franks\, Gato Barbieri\, Dionne Warwick\, and many others. He has also performed with many major jazz artists such as Pat Metheny\, Will Lee\, Mel Torme\, Nat Adderley\, and Ira Sullivan. He has also toured world-wide with Raul Diblasio. Mike has released four albums of his own \, the latest being ” Just Chillin “. \n\n\n\n Bassist Steve Gilmore is a three time Grammy award winner for Jazz performance and is best known for his 40+ years association with Jazz alto Saxophonist Phil Woods. Steve\, however\, has also performed with many other artists  including Tony Bennett\, guitarist Jim Hall\, Michel Legrand\, Tom Waits\, Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra\, to name just a few. Steve has performed on over 150 Jazz recordings\, including three under his own name plus nine Jamey Aebersold Instructional CDs with two published Steve Gilmore Bass Line Books.

DESCRIPTION:This week’s concert once again features the fabulous styling of singer Sheila Ford. \n\n\n\nSheila Ford has dazzled audiences for several decades with a voice that glistens like a string of pearls\, in nearly every musical style-Jazz\, including funk\, blues\, pop\, disco\, rock\, and country as well as musical theater. \n\n\n\nA Baltimore native and a Berklee College of Music alumna\, Sheila has performed at Blues Alley\, Kennedy Center\, New York’s Dizzy’s Club\, The Lincoln Center\, San Antonio’s Jazz Texas\, and concerts across the globe. Over the past few years\, Sheila has been headlining on cruise ships featuring her show\, the “Tina Turner Experience.” Her voice is featured in over one hundred recordings\, including her own\, titled “Here You Are”. \n\n\n\n Accompanying Sheila will be pianist Luke Pinegar and bassist Steve Gilmore\, a Grammy award-winning musician known for his work with Phil Woods\, Tony Bennett\, and others.

DESCRIPTION:Mike Levine has been out of town for half a year\, so this will be a special reunion of the trio. \nVictor Payano is a saxophonist\, educator\, and composer. He played with artists including Rita Moreno\, Tito Puente\, Humberto Ramirez\, Paquito D’ Rivera\, and Charlie Palmieri. \nVictor is recognized for the Latin flavor in his music. He earned his Master’s Degree in Jazz performance from Florida International University. Upon graduating\, Victor moved to Orlando to teach at Sumpter Community College. He was also a member of the Leesburg Jazz Repertory Orchestra. \nPianist-composer Mike Levine’s band has been the opening act for performers including Michael Franks\, Gato Barbieri \,Dionne Warwick\, and many others.
