DESCRIPTION:The Gulf Jazz Society will present in concert the outstanding guitarist Steve Cosper\, along with vocalist Sheila Ford\, and bassist Steve Gilmore. \n After graduation\, Panama City resident Stephan Cosper joined the U.S. Army as a guitarist\, auditioned and won the guitar chair with “Jazz Ambassadors”\, the official touring orchestra of the U. S. Army. Stephen spent the next 20 years touring all 50 states multiple times\, playing major jazz festivals in Europe and Canada\, and recorded many albums with the Ambassadors. Other notable tours include India\, Japan\, and Mexico. Stephen retired from the Army and now lives in Tulsa\, OK\, playing gigs\, and teaching privately. \nSheila Ford\, quickly becoming a Panama City favorite\, is a Berklee College of Music Alumni\, and has performed at Blues Alley\, The Kennedy Center\, New York City’s Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center\, and festivals all over the globe. In addition\, she has appeared on over 100 recordings\, including her own CD “Here You Are.” \nBassist Steve Gilmore has performed with such notables as alto great Phil Woods\, Tony Bennett\, Jim Hall\, and Tom Waits to name just a few.

DESCRIPTION:Suzanne Stewart is a seasoned vocalist and flautist who has been performing for 30 years. She was in the US Army band as flute player and vocalist for the Jazz band and combos. Born in Panama City\, she grew up in Jacksonville\, where she attended the University of North Florida on a Jazz and vocal scholarship. Victor played with artists such as Rita Moreno\, Tito Puente\, Humberto Ramirez\, Paquito D’ Rivera\, Charlie Palmieri\, and Dave Valentín. Victor obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico. In 2002 he earned his Master of Music in Jazz Performance from Florida International University in Miami\, Florida. After graduating\, Victor moved to Orlando where he taught Music at Sumpter Community College\, in Leesburg\, Florida. He was a member of The Leesburg Jazz Repertory Orchestra\, The Orlando Concert Band and The Lake Saxophone Quartet. Victor is recognized for the Latin flavor in his music.

DESCRIPTION:Originally a drummer\, Mike Stone’s singing career began in the late 1960s. He has appeared in numerous venues throughout the south and east and headlined several concerts of “Frank Sinatra’s” music for the Gulf Jazz Society. Over the years\, Mike has appeared in many musicals at the Martin Theatre in Panama City\, where he currently serves as president of the board of the “Martin Theatre” Inc. In 1970\, Mike starred at Cambridge\, Massachusetts\, in the premier directed by “Christopher Durang” Most recently musically\, he was seen in the Martin Theatre’s production of The Fantastics\, presented at the Todd Herendeen Theater on Panama City Beach\, and in “Spoon River Anthology”\, at the St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

DESCRIPTION:Craig Duran will be performing on saxophone at the House Of Henry on June 8th from 6:30-9:00 pm \nCraig Duran graduated in 1990 from the University of North Florida with a Jazz Studies Degree and went to play professionally on cruise ships\, Disney World\, and other national venues with Jazz\, Pop\, and reggae bands. Craig has shared the stage with numerous jazz greats\, including Branford and Wynton Marsallis\, Joe Williams\, The Count Basie Orchestra\, Dianne Reeves\, and many others. Craig moved to Panama City in 1997 to play with the local show band “Clutch”. Most recently Craig has performed at live music venues along 30A with Orchestras such as “Mofro” and “J J  Grey”. \nCraig Duran will be accompanied with the ever-popular and versatile Luke Pinegar on Piano and Vocals. And of course\, Steve Gilmore\, three-time Grammy winner with the Phil Woods Quartet\, on Bass.

DESCRIPTION:Three time world Champion Bobby Van Deusen\, a Philadelphia native\, began his musical training at age seven after his mother saw him picking out tunes on the family piano. A precocious youngster\, his love for entertaining started with performances in elementary school. Classically trained\, he spent his high school years playing in as many instrumental and vocal groups as possible.After college training at Central and Ohio State University\, he began making a name for himself playing at piano bars in the Midwest. He traveled south in 1985 and joined the Rosie O’Grady dixieland band in Pensacola. After stints in New Orleans with Al Hirt and Pete Fountain\, he was hired as riverboat piano player with the Delta Steamboat Company. Bobby won the Senior Division first prize at the World Championship Old Time Piano Contest 3 times\, becoming an undefeated world champion. He tours with his “Prime Time” trio and performs with local Jazz Societies and concert associations. Bobby lives in Pensacola. \nBobby will be accompanied by three-time Grammy winner Steve Gilmore on Bass

DESCRIPTION:Panhandle native Andrew Tinch is a guitarist in the Washington D.C area. He is a graduate of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami\, holding a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance and a minor in the Music Business and Entertainment Industries. Andrew refined his musical expertise under esteemed instructors such as John Hart\, Dr Stephan Guerra\, and Etienne Charles. As a freelance musician in North and South Florida\, he has collaborated with acclaimed artists\, including Grammy award-winning djembe artist\, Weedie Braimah\, internationally renowned steel pannist Leon Foster Thomas\, and Grammy award winner Bassist Steve Gilmore. In 2023\, Tinch was recognized by Downbeat Magazine for outstanding performance in the Blues/Rock/Pop category in the annual Downbeat Student Music Awards. Currently residing in D.C.\, Andrew is the guitarist with the prestigious US Air Force Band\, Singing Sergeants\, showcasing his exceptional talent on a national stage. DESCRIPTION:Sharon has been performing with jazz bands\, and as a musical theatre actress for two decades. Upon returning to Panama City\, she began performing with the “Swing Set Big Band” and the “Swing Shift Jazz Band”. She has recorded two CDs\, ‘Tell Me This Day Won’t End” with Amanda Matthews\, for which she wrote the title track\, and ” Sharon Carol and Company Live at the Backstage Pass”. She has often performed at Pensacola Jazz events\, including the 2022 Pensacola Jazz Festival\, Jazz Night in the “District”\, and Women in Jazz at the Seville Quarter. \nSharon has performed in many Gulf Jazz Society events\, including the Jazz by the Bay Festival\, and has headlined the Celebrate Hope Gala at Mitchell Cancer Institute in Mobile\, Alabama. She has sung in NYC’s Broadway’s “Living Room” and just returned from Venice\, Italy\, where she performed in a Venetian wedding set in the garden of the 16th-century Villa Ca’ Marcello. \nSharon will be joined on stage by the incredibly versatile and talented Luke Pinegar on piano and Steve Gilmore (three-time Grammy winner) on bass.

DESCRIPTION:Camara Kambon is an American Jazz pianist\, film composer\, music producer\, and songwriter. At age 23\, he became the youngest composer to receive a national Emmy award for scoring the HBO film “Sonny Liston”: The Mysterious Life and Death of a Champion. He has received three Emmy nominations\, three Grammy nominations\, and a BMI Pop Award and Film/TV Award. As a pianist\, he has performed with Dizzy Gillespie\, Roy Hargrove\, Delfeayo Marsalis\, Roberta Flack\, Gary Bartz\, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra\, to list a few. DESCRIPTION:This weeks’ performance features the multi-talented bassist Dave Goldflies\, who will show a new side of himself by playing jazz and blues on the electric violin + some original vocals. Dave played and recorded with the Allman Brothers for 4 years\, and became recognized as a pillar in the rhythm and blues community. He now has formed and tours with his band called “Brothers revival”.
