The Gulf Jazz Society is pleased to present Joanna Robbins Hayes at their Tuesday July 19th Jazz Night at the Shrimp Boat Restaurant on Beck Avenue in St. Andrews – Panama City. Doors open at 5:00pm, Show Time is 6:30pm.ADMISSION WILL BE $10 PER MEMBER AND $15 PER NON- MEMBER. Get there early to get a good window view of the sunset and enjoy the excellent food and beverages at the Shrimp Boat. Enter at the front entrance to the main dining room on the first floor.
Ms. Hayes has been a performer across the Gulf Coast for many years. As well as being a long-time member of Pensacola’s Mr. Big and the Rhythm Sisters, She is a founding member of Bangarang,a blues,rock, and dance band. Some of her most memorable past gigs include performing her original compositions at the Earth Day Festival in Pensacola, singing with British Invasion, Hep Cats, and Like Totally at the Rosemary Beach summer concert series, and sitting in with the Matt McCarty Jazz Quintet. Her favorite show to date is her Tribute to Carol King, which was created for the Jazz Gumbo Series for Jazz Pensacola. Joanna is looking forward to topping this performance with her Music of Burt Bacharach show,which will take place at Seville Quarter in Pensacola this September.
Joanna grew up on the Pensacola Little Theatre stage and spent countless hours studying dance, piano, and vocal performance from some of Pensacola’s finest instructors. At 19, she danced with First City Dance Theater, Pensacola’s first Professional dance company. Joanna performed at the Jenny Wiley Theatre in Kentucky, prior to studying acting in Los Angeles and Nashville. Since returning to Pensacola to raise her family, Joanna has continued to express her creativity and talent on stage and behind the scenes. She returned to the PLT stage and took on roles such as the title role in Victor/Victoria, Anita in West Side Story, The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar. Her backstage work includes; choreographing shows for PLT and Pensacola Children’s Chorus, twelve years as the dance teacher at N.B. Cook Elementary School of the Arts, and is currently the music director at Unity Church of Pensacola.
Joanna is honored to play with Panama City’s finest Jazz musicians, and is thrilled to share her love of music and performing with the Panama City community. She will be be accompanied by Jill Wofsey on Keyboard and Steve Gilmore on Bass.
