The Gulf Jazz Society concert at the House Of Henry, 461 Harrison Ave, Panama City, Oct 21st, will feature the Victor Payano Trio.
This is a special reunion of the trio, as Mike Levine has been out of town for half a year.
Victor Payano is a saxophonist, educator, and composer. He played with Rita Moreno, Tito Puente, Humberto Ramirez, Paquito D’ Rivera, and Charlie Palmieri.
Victor is recognized for the Latin flavor in his music, earning his Master’s Degree in Jazz performance from Florida International University. Upon graduating, Victor moved to Orlando to teach at Sumpter Community College. He was also a member of the Leesburg Jazz Repertory Orchestra.
Pianist-composer Mike Levine’s band has been the opening act for performers including Michael Franks, Gato Barbieri ,Dionne Warwick, and many others. Mike has four CDs of his own, and has played with such artists as Tom Scott, Michael Brecker, Toots Thielman, Nat Adderley, and Ira Sullivan, just to name just a few.
Rounding out the trio is Bassist Steve Gilmore, three-time Grammy award winner, whose list of credits includes 40+ years with sax legend Phil Woods, Tony Bennett, Jim Hall, Michelle Legrand, and Tom Waits and others.
The concert runs from 6:30 to 9:00 pm, and admission is $10
