Jazz by the Bay Number 20 has come and gone. And what a weekend it was!
Perfect weather. The park was just beautiful. And the music…wow! But you probably didn’t get to see, not the best, but certainly the most entertaining aspect of the show: the unloading and loading of the grand piano. Heavy?? Oh yeah. There’s a reason that pianos are dropped on cartoon characters even more than anvils.
Putting a jazz festival together is a lot like moving a piano. It’s a lot of work. It requires the cooperation and coordination of many people. But the end result is beautiful music and well worth the effort.
Gulf Jazz Society thanks those many people who labored to make it happen. Also the generous sponsors, without whom it simply wouldn’t.
And to all of you who attended. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed putting it on. If you missed it, we’ll see you next year at Jazz by the Bay number 21 (in 22)!
