The Gulf jazz Society June 9th Concert at the House of Henry will feature pianist, vocalist, and multi instrumentalist Luke Pinegar with bassist Steve Gilmore. Luke Pinegar is a gulf coast based multi-instrumentalist known for his soulful sound, deep swing, and genre-crossing versatility. A graduate of the University of North Texas, Luke has performed and recorded in jazz, gospel, blues, rock, and country settings, drawing from New Orleans street beat influences, to Nat King Cole and Otis Redding. With decades of experience as a performer, educator, and former Executive Director at the Ark in Panama City Beach. Luke now teaches and performs full-time, inspiring audiences with heart felt, groove driven music rooted in tradition and storytelling. Bassist Steve Gilmore is a three-time Grammy award winner best known for his forty-plus year tenure with famed alto saxophonist Phil Woods. Steve studied at the Advanced School of Contemporary Music in Canada with Jazz Great Ray Brown. Besides Phil Woods, Steve has a very detailed discography, a few being Tony Bennett, Jim Hall, Tom Waits, Mose Allison, Al Cohn and or Zoot Sims, Thad Jones Mel Lewis Orchestra, and Dave Liebman to name just a few. Steve has been living in his wife’s hometown of Panama City for thirteen years, and is a past member of the Panama City Symphony, and gigs with the Sinfonia Gulf Coast.
The concert will run from 6:30-9:00 p.m. and admission is $10
